LIONS ORGAN AND EYE BANK District 2-E2 4500 Merlot Avenue Grapevine Texas 76051 Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting November 13, 2005 |
Members and Guest in attendance and Call to Order: President Dr Paul Degenaer 1st V.P. Carol Jervis 2nd V.P. Paul Tucich Secretary Tom Jervis Director Betty Tucich Director Kaye Witt Director Dr. Don Yandell Guest in Attendance: Lion Charles Musacchio Laurie Musacchio Invocation and Pledge: Lion Don Yandell gave the invocation. Lion Paul Tucich led the pledge. Minutes and Treasurer’s Reports: Secretary Tom reported on behalf of Treasurer Craig that the monies have been transferred to the money market account. And there are no current bills outstanding. Lion Paul T. motioned to accept the report. Lion Kaye seconded the motion. Motion carried. Secretary Tom reported that the minutes had been e-mailed and that hard copies were presented for review. Lion Betty motioned to accept the minutes as presented. Lion Carol seconded the motion. Motion carried. Announcements: Lion Paul T. reported that he has gotten the use of the meeting room at Stacy’s Furniture in Grapevine. Lion Tom reported that the next Sunday would be the Celebration of Thanksgiving by Transplant Services. And that Lion Craig would have the checks at that time to present to Transplant Services. Acknowledgements: Lion Betty reported she has seen several acknowledgements. Cabinet Meeting: President Paul reported what LOEB is currently doing. Such as the new clinic in McKinney, use of the MVU. Lion Tom reported on the Quad-District. The Endowment Fund that we are looking at starting and the Celebration of Thanksgiving. PDG Ron Layland has offered to assist the LOEB in requesting grants from International. White Cane: Lion Paul T. has been working hard on an article for the district newsletter. Diabetic Essay: Lion Carol reported that she has spoken with Lewisville High School. She has two judges lined up. Vision Clinic: Lion Tom reported that we will have a clinic at Everman Jan. 7th. Be back to Mansfield in March. Request for PNS for March 10 or 17. Also, that was contacted by District 2-X1 that a school nurse in River Oaks was interested in having a clinic for her students. Lion Tom has spoken with the nurse and has contacted the President on Secretary of River Oaks Lions Club. Due to possibility of over 100 students. Lion Tom requested from the Board that the cost of the glass be split with the club. Should the club complete the project by the end of Nov. or the beginning of Dec. Lion Paul T. seconded the request. Request carried. Lion Don mentioned that Prevent Blindness could possibly help. Programs: Lions Paul and Betty spoke with the Dennison Noon and Grapevine clubs. Lion Paul D. spoke to the McKinney club Lion Tom J. spoke to the Gainesville club. Life Membership: Lion Kaye is working on getting examples of the different levels of awards. Lion Don motioned to get a Bronze Plaque for Helen Myers to go on the MVU. Lion Betty seconded the motion. Lion Tom questioned why the MVU due to the monies going to cover expenses at the Adult Eye Clinic. Lion Tom felt that a plaque at the Adult Eye Clinic would be more appropriate. Lion Don amended his motion. Lion Betty seconded the amendment. Motion carried. Old Business: Lion Tom reported that we are now recognized by Lions International as an Eye Bank. Also, had pins and books from International to be given to clubs and directors. Lion Tom will get the check of 2000 for the operation expense for Transplant Services Center. And will present at the Celebration. Lion Carol motioned that the LOEB contribute $100 per club of District 2-E2 to the Transplant Endowment Fund that the Quad-District is starting. Lion Don seconded the motion. Motion carried. New Business: President Paul is asking all directors to PR like crazy. E-mail, photos, Web site. Also, to get more Dr’s involved with becoming Lions. Along with members of their staff. President Paul liked the response at the cabinet meeting about the pins that we passed out. And also liked the book from International. Other Directors liked the book also. President Paul asked if we could get more of the books and pins. Lion Carol motioned to acquire 50 more books. Lion Kaye seconded the motion. Motion carried. Lion Paul T. motioned to acquire 1000 more pins. Lion Carol seconded the motion. Motion carried. Lion Tom will order the books and pins. Lion Don mentioned that Prevent Blindness has a gentleman that is having an eye removed. President Paul has a lady in McKinney that needs cornea transplant. Due to this type of request. LOEB does not have in place any guide lines on how to assist. President Paul has set a committee of Lions Carol, Craig, and Dr. Paul to set up some guidelines for the LOEB to assist with financial request. Lion Carol motioned to contribute $100 to the lady in McKinney with future assistance possible. Lion Don seconded the motion. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned. |
