LOEB Board of Directors Minutes from November 13, 2011 |
Call to Order: at 2:05 PM at the River Oaks Lions Club Meeting Hall by President Bob. A quorum was present. Attending the meeting were Margy and Michael Sundstrom, Charlie Bethards, Clayton Meissner, Bob Carlson, Pam Ingram, Lindy Toner, and 1VDG John Paul Burnett. Charlie Bethards from Colleyville was present. Margy made a motion that Charlie be appointed to replace Lindy Toner's vacated position. Clayton seconded the motion. Motion passed. Treasurer's Report was given by Clayton Meissner. All bills have been paid. 2E2 Clubs who have paid were noted. Scholarships have been paid. Form 990 has been submitted to the IRS. He is working toward getting an audit completed. Charlie made the motion that the report be accepted. Margy seconded. Motion passed. Acknowledgements: None to report. White Cane: No report due to Jon's absence. Quad District: Clayton and Jon attended. Jon was elected as Secretary. Two people from 2E2 will be on the Lions float in the Rose Bowl Parade. Information has been sent to the entire state. Drew Timmons will take pictures in California. There have been 330 cornea transplants to people in 2E2. Diabetes Awareness: Jon was absent. Contest will be held at Midwinter. All encouraged to get participants. Life Memberships: Clayton showed samples of each level. Sylvia is working on updating basic level. Vision Assistance: Pam presented Greylon Mariner, Euless, sponsored by Jim Cook & Colleyville Lions who needs a prosthetic eye. This case was started by Vance Oakes late Spring. Margy made a motion that we agree to pay up to $3500 towards the eye. Charlie seconded. Motion passed. Lindy presented requests from McKinney Noon and Cleburne. VAC will consider these and may contact LOEB directors prior to next meeting. Clinics: Lindy reported that every Friday each doctor sees 18 patients at the clinic. Working at doing children on Mondays. Reminder that forms are available at www.preventblindnesstexas.org. Mobile unit: Clayton reported that McKinney screened 54 & wrote 50 prescriptions. Dr. Upchurch and one other doctor worked all day. Clayton also reported that the Mobile unit needs a lensometer, that the Retinomax2 has been repaired, and one Suresight needs repair (it doesn't hold a charge). Screenings for NW Tarrant and Colleyville are scheduled. Eyeglass Recycling: Pantego may assume responsibilities of the center. DG is requesting that LOEB take Eyeglass Recycling under LOEB guidance. MD2 prefers that recycling center not be under a single club but rather under an entity with a constitution and by-laws. After discussion, more information is needed and Pantego club will be invited to next LOEB meeting to discuss further. Old Business: Clayton found that the bench at the Rose Garden in teakwood and needs no finishing but may need an oil treatment. He is seeing about that. Website: David will assume. Also working on a QR symbol. LOEB needs 2 directors Midwinter Conference: will have screening training and diabetes awareness essay contest New Business: Thanksgiving for Life is next Sunday. Be present at 12:00 noon to help with traffic and registration. Midwinter: Alcon will have its Essilor Mobile Unit at the conference.
